  • Invicta FC Jessica Penne vs. Naho Sugiyama headlines Invicta FC 3 in OctoberInvicta Fighting Championships have announced the headline bout for their third event as Jessica Penne (9-1) faces Japan’s Naho Sugiyama (8-0) in a atomweight title match. The event is set to take place at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan, on Oct. 6.

The event will host a 13-fight card, which will feature a co-main event bantamweight bout between Shayna Baszler and Sarah D’Alelio.

Jessica Penne enters this fight riding a two fight winning streak, most recently defeating Lisa Ellis via third round TKO at Invicta FC 1 earlier this year. Prior to that she scored a first round submission victory over Amy Davis at a regional event in November 2010, and dropped her only Pro MMA loss to Zoila Gurgel via unanimous decision at Bellator 25 in August 2010.

Undefeated Japanese fighter Naho Sugiyama last fought at Jewels 19 in May, where she defeated Yasuko Tamada via decision. Prior to that she defeated Kikuyo Ishikawa and Misaki Takimoto, both in one night to become a Jewels champion. This bout against Penne will be Sugiyama’s first fight in the United States, so she will no doubt be looking to put on a good performance in this title fight.

The ticket on-sale date for the much-anticipated Invicta FC 3: Penne vs. Sugiyama event, featuring 13 professional bouts, will be announced soon.
