A new bout has been added to the BAMMA 10 card as Kevin Thompson (13-4) faces Tony Moran (9-4) in a light-heavyweight battle. The event is set to take place at Wembley Arena, London, on Sept. 15.
The bout was announced by BAMMA officials on Friday via official press release.
BAMMA 10 will feature a headline bout between Andre Winner and Rob Sinclair, who will battle for the lightweight title. The event will be broadcast live on HDNet (AXS TV) in the US, The Fight Network in Canada, Esporta in Brazil, Red Media in Russia, Setanta in Africa and TDN in Latin America. U.K. fans can watch the action LIVE on 5*, with the highlights to be broadcast on Channel 5.
Kevin Thompson recently returned from a two year break at the “M4tC 6 – Annihilation” event in June, where he scored a first round submission victory over Rab Truesdale. Prior to that he dropped a first round submission loss to Linton Vassell at OMMAC 5 in June 2010. Before that defeat he had built up a three fight winning streak, defeating notable fighters such as Craig Bulmer, Shaun Lomas and Steven Evans.
With all his wins by TKO via punches or Rear Naked Choke, fans can certainly expect Thompson not to waste time in looking to take this fight to the ground.
Tony Moran was last in action at CFC 13 in July, where he lost due to disqualification for an illegal knee to the head against Ben Smith. Prior to that he had stacked up a three fight winning steak, defeating Rolandas Cizauskas, Mark Cummings and Ben Murphy during 2011. Moran will no doubt look to get himself back into the win column with a big performance against Thompson.
Moran has won fights via head-kick, knees, TKO and a variety of submissions, so fans can expect to be treated to a diverse fighter with real knock out power, who is as dangerous standing up as he is on the ground.
Here is what BAMMA’s Head of Talent Relations, Jude Samuel, had to say about the fight:
“I’m really happy to add this Light Heavyweight match to the BAMMA 10 card. Kevin Thompson has been around a long time and makes a lethal challenge. Tony Moran is a well rated and an exciting all-rounder who is capable of winning in any area of the fight. I’m looking forward to seeing how these guys square up in what I expect to be another FOTN contender. Fans certainly won’t be disappointed!”
