  • World Series Of Fighting Logo Anthony Johnson vs. D.J. Linderman announced for WSOF 1 on Nov. 3A new match-up for “World Series of Fighting 1″ has been confirmed as Anthony Johnson (13-4) faces D.J. Linderman (14-3) in a light-heavyweight battle. The event is set to take place at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Nov. 3.

WSOF officials confirmed the bout today via official press release.

The promotion have also confirmed that “World Series of Fighting 1″ will feature a co-main event between Miguel Angel Torres (40-5) and Marlon Moraes (8-4-1) who will square-off in a bantamweight match-up. The event is set to air LIVE on NBC Sports Network.

Here is what WSOF president, Ray Sefo, had to say about the upcoming event:

“With the addition of these two matchups, we have assembled a complete main card that we feel is stacked from top to bottom with some of the finest talent in the sport of MMA,” Sefo also said. “MMA has an opportunity to expand its reach on Nov. 3 thanks to the NBC Sports Network platform and World Series of Fighting is going to be sure to make the most of this opportunity in order to take our great sport to unprecedented, new heights.”

Anthony Johnson is currently riding a three fight winning streak, most recently defeating Jake Rosholt via second round TKO at Xtreme Fight Night 9 in September. Prior to that he scored a second round TKO victory over Esteves Jones at Titan FC 24 in August, and a unanimous decision win over Dave Branch at Titan FC 22 in May.

Johnson has not lost since January, when he suffered a first round submission loss to Vitor Belfort at UFC 142. The talented fighter has now signed a multi-fight deal with the World Series of Fighting, and will no doubt look to pick up a big win against Linderman in his first fight for the organisation.

Meanwhile, D.J. Linderman is also riding a three fight winning streak, most recently defeating Dale Mitchell via second round TKO at Legacy FC 12 in July. Prior to that he scored back-to-back unanimous decision victories over Bobby Brents and Mike Hayes fighting for the Cage Warriors promotion earlier this year. Linderman is sure to look for a big performance against Johnson in November.
