• Jack Marshman vs. Xavier Foupa-Pokam set to headline BAMMA 11 on Dec. 1

  • B11 Marshman v Professor Xlr Jack Marshman vs. Xavier Foupa Pokam set to headline BAMMA 11 on Dec. 1The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts have announced their headline bout for BAMMA 11 as Jack Marshman (11-1) faces Xavier Foupa-Pokam (22-18) in a middleweight battle. The event is set to take place at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena on Dec. 1.

BAMMA officials announced the new match-up today.

Also, BAMMA have confirmed that Dawid Farycki will step in as a late replacement for an injured Nathan Greyson and now faces Bryan Creighton in a bantamweight bout.

Jack Marshman last fought at BAMMA 10 in September, where he scored a first round submission victory over Andrew Punshon. Prior to that he dropped a second round TKO loss to Tom Watson at BAMMA 9 in March. Before that loss Marshman was undefeated having built up a ten fight winning streak, defeating notable fighters such as Mike Ling, Carl Noon and Lee Barnes during 2011. Jack now has a chance to put another notch in the win column against Foupa-Pokam.

Here is what Jack Marshman had to say about the upcoming bout:

“I’m feeling really good and I’m excited about this fight, mainly as this is my first bout at international level and it’s a step up I’m ready for. I always like to think I’m more well-rounded than people think, and I showed fans that I’m much more than a boxer in my last fight. I’m up against someone who is experienced and skilled in all areas, so I will definitely need to prove that I’m a rounded fighter as I’m coming for the win. I’m really looking forward to returning to Birmingham for a third time. Both my most exciting fights have been in Birmingham and I expect it to be as exciting this time both for me and the fans.”

Xavier Foupa-Pokam was last in action at SFL 6 earlier this month, where he dropped a unanimous decision loss to Claudio Henrique da Silva. Prior to that he scored a first round TKO victory over Joey Guel at SFL 1 in March. That victory snapped a five fight losing streak that Xavier had been on during 2010/2011. Known for his knockout power and dangerous submissions Foupa-Pokam has tangled with some of the biggest names in U.K. Mixed Martial Arts. He will now look to bounce back from his last fight with a big win over Marshman in December.
