The headline bout for BAMMA 12 has now been confirmed as Jimmy Wallhead (23-7) faces Matt Veach (16-4) in a welterweight matchup. The event is set to take place at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on Saturday 9th March 2013.
BAMMA officials announced the headline bout today via official press release.
Also, a preliminary card bout between Luke Newman and Ryan Scope was also confirmed today. The two men will engage in a welterweight battle, and will no doubt look to lay down an impressive performance.
The event will feature in a two hour live broadcast on 5* in the UK with highlights to follow on Channel 5; and will be televised on AXS-TV in the US, The Fight Network in Canada, Red Media in Russia, TV Esporte Interativo in Brazil, Setanta in Africa and TDN in Latin America.
Jim Wallhead last fought at Bellator 74 in September 2012, where he dropped a unanimous decision loss against Lyman Good. Prior to that he had been on a two fight winning streak, defeating both Frank Trigg and Joey Villaseñor during 2011. Jimmy now has the chance to get himself back into the win column with a big performance against Veach.
Matt Veach was last in action at a C3 Fights event in August 2012, where he scored a first round TKO victory over Zac Kelley. Prior to that he had been on a two-fight losing streak, dropping losses against Drew Fickett and Eric Wisely during 2011. Matt will no doubt look to start a winning streak by defeating Wallhead on March 9th.
