It is my pleasure to introduce you to ring-girl and model, Cassie Bardell, who is The MMA Review’s April “Babe of the Month”!!! Enjoy!

Jay Cee: Hi Cassie, I am really glad to have you here on themmareview.co.uk as our April “Babe Of The Month”! Start off by telling me about some of the MMA/Fight promotions you have worked at in the past? Also, you are part of the “Modelling Network Minx” team, tell me how that all came about? and what it is like working with Duncan Brown?

Cassie: I have worked at a lot of MMA fights across the UK. I have worked for NUTS, Rockstar energy and loads more. I am working at another MMA event in April, which I am really looking forward to! A close friend showed me the Modelling Network and all the jobs it has to offer, so I signed up straight away now I am one of the Modelling Network Minx through that. Duncan is very laid back and easy to get along with, he works hard to keep us happy and to keep us busy with lots of work!

Jay Cee: What is your favorite thing about the job?

Cassie: My favorite thing about the job is the excitement of being a part of it all, it’s a very good way of being recognized and great publicity if you want to get your self out there, it’s a lot of fun to be involved.

Jay Cee: It must be quite exciting to meet new people all the time including the fans and fighters. Do you have any funny stories or a memorable moment from an event that you can share with us?

Cassie: I was once working at an MMA event a while back and one of the fighters teeth bounced out of the cage. We were all trying to find it, which made it quite amusing and we had a good laugh with the fighter as he found it funny too, which was quite a surprise considering he had blood pouring out his mouth! That’s the best bit about it, everyone is so friendly towards you and makes you feel really welcome!

Jay Cee: Outside of being a ring-girl are you an actual fan of MMA? If so, who is your favorite fighter?

Cassie: Yes, I love MMA! Dan Hardy is my favorite.

Jay Cee: I have been asked by quite a few female readers how they could become ring girls. What advice would you give to any young women looking to get into that line of work?

Cassie: Just to be confident and to be proud of what you do, it is very competitive and you shouldn’t give up trying.

Jay Cee: Tell me a bit about what else you do outside of being a ring girl Cassie? I have seen some amazing pictures of you, is modelling something you do full-time or just something on the side?

Cassie: I do modelling part-time as I work full-time doing accounts for a music company. I love both of my jobs, they are both very different but also rewarding and fun! I wouldn’t want to do anything else. In both jobs I get to attend a lot of events and meet loads of new people which suits my personality a lot.

Jay Cee: What would you say is your best asset body-wise?

Cassie: I’ve been told my legs are my best asset but that’s just because i’m lanky…Haha!

Jay Cee: Describe yourself in three words?

Cassie: Bubbly, Easy Going and Fun!

Jay Cee: Great, well that about wraps it up Cassie. Thanks again for taking some time out to be our April “Babe Of The Month” and good luck for the future!

Cassie: Thanks Jay!

Thanks again to Cassie Bardell for being our April babe! We appreciate the time.

British heavyweight fighter Chi Lewis-Parry will be facing Scott Saward at UCMMA 33, which takes place at the Troxy in London on Saturday, April 6th.

The MMA Review (www.themmareview.co.uk) recently got the chance to talk with Chi about the upcoming bout, training and goals for the future and more…

Check out the interview:

Jay Cee: Hi Chi, you will be taking on Scott Saward in a heavyweight bout at UCMMA 33 on April 6th. Do you know much about your opponent?

Chi: I know that he’s a young hungry guy with victory on his mind and its down to me to control what and when he eats.

Jay Cee: How has training been going?

Chi: Training has been great. I’ve had some fantastic help from my trainers Danny Brennan and Chris Batheldor, who have been putting me through my paces.

Jay Cee: Have you been working on anything specific in this fight camp to prepare for Saward?

Chi: I have gone back to my old method of training from my basketball days and incorporated plyometrics into my busy schedule. Agility is a strength of mine, so I have to keep it fresh.

Jay Cee: What gym do you train out of? and what fighters and coaches have you been working with?

Image taken by Helen Parish

Chi: Currently I train with the guys over at Beatbox MMA. However, I travel around a lot to work with some of the best in the business. As part of this camp I have worked with Gary ‘smiler’ Turner and Jimi Manuwa at lions Pride. These guys have been more than hospitable.

Jay Cee: You are the current UK1 champion and you are undefeated in MMA, what would you say is the key to your success so far?

Chi: I spend a lot of time visualizing where I want to be. That keeps me driven and on course. Because in reality, i’m nowhere near where I want to be yet, so the hard work has to be put in until I get there.

Jay Cee: What are your goals for the rest of the year?

Chi: My goals are to get out to Holland and train my ass off, and to remain undefeated of course!

Jay Cee: Thanks for the time Chi, do you have any people, coaches or sponsors you would like to thank?

Chi: I would like to thank my coaches Danny Brennan and Chris Batcheldor. Beatbox MMA. Gary Turner, Lions Pride MMA, my management team Mogul Management and my sponsors UK Fight wear (www.ukfightwear.com) Nutri Balance water, Cutting edge sports nutrition and Body Armour uk etc.

The show will take place at Athena in Leicester, England, on April 20.

Fight UK officials recently confirmed the fight card and headliner with themmareview.co.uk.

Fight UK 9 will also feature a heavyweight title fight between current champ Michał Andryszak and Adam Parkes. For ticket information and further details on the event please visit: www.fightukmma.co.uk

Dino Gambatesa last fought at Cage Warriors 49 in October 2012, where he dropped a first round submission loss against Martin McDonough. Prior to that he suffered a first round KO loss against Olivier Pastor at Cage Warriors Fight Night 6 in May 2012. Gambatesa’s last victory was against Karsten Lenjoint at Fight UK 6 in February 2012, where he scored a first round TKO victory. Dino now has the chance to get himself back into the win column with a good performance against Saville.

James Saville was last in action at Shock’n'Awe 13 earlier this month, where he scored a second round submission victory over Martin Sheridan. That win snapped a two fight losing streak, which included losses to Martin Svensson and James Brum during 2012. Prior to that James had been on a six fight winning streak, defeating notable fighters such as Niko Gjoka, Leigh Remedios and Thomas Hytten. Saville will no doubt look to begin a new winning streak by defeating Gambatesa on April 20th.

The event delivered a card packed with exciting amateur bouts, giving some of the UK’s best up and coming talent the chance to showcase their skills. The main and co-main event bouts were the only professional MMA fights on the card.

From the moment I entered the venue right through to the moment I left, I was blown away by the professionalism of the FCC staff, the smooth running of the event and the performances laid down by all of the fighters on the night. The venue was packed with over 2 thousand passionate fans and supporters, who helped to create a fantastic atmosphere on the night.

In the main event of the evening, Pietro Menga defeated Mark Platts to become the FCC pro flyweight champion. Menga took control early, landing some crisp jabs and leg kicks. Platts attempted to return fire and threw a body kick, but Pietro managed to catch Mark’s leg and score a take-down. Once on the ground, Menga was able to take control and secure an arm triangle, after freeing his legs from Platts’ guard he moved over and secured the victory.

In the co-main event, Ste Nightingale picked up a victory over Declan Williams in a pro bantamweight matchup. After a brief period of back and forth striking, Williams dropped Nightingale and managed to take top position. Nightingale began to work off his back and was able to secure a triangle. Williams tried his best to defend the triangle, but began taking some heavy punches and elbows to the head from Nightingale. After softening Williams up with more strikes, Nightingale was able to tighten up the triangle and secure the tap.

Elsewhere on the card, Kevin Fryer took home the interim amateur middleweight title by defeating Kristoff Pachucki. Callum Brady won the vacant welterweight title after securing a first round triangle choke submission victory over James Lewis. Lastly, Lee Richardson locked in a rear-naked choke just over 2 minutes into his bout with Liam Davies, securing the tap. He took home the FCC interim lightweight title.

The full FCC 5 results are below:

The event is set to take place at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Trafford Park, Manchester, on March 23.

Lockdown officials recently confirmed the fight card and headline bout with themmareview.co.uk.

Also on the card, there will be an amateur title fight between Kris Leeson and Dez Parker. This will be a rematch from a few weeks ago where Kris won a decision, their second encounter at Lockdown 3 is expected to be even better. Ticket prices for the event start at £25 and can be puchased by visiting: www.lockdownmmashow.co.uk

Danny Missin last fought at “Cage Control – Contender 1″ in December 2012, where he scored a first round TKO victory over Gavin Davies. Prior to that he picked up a first round submission victory over Anthony Ferguson at LFC 4 in October 2012. Missin will now look to extend his undefeated winning streak to three with a good performance against Postlethwaite.

Ian Postlethwaite was last in action at Vision FC 4 in September 2012, where he dropped a first round submission loss against Mark Handley. Ian will no doubt look to bounce back from that pro debut loss with a big win over Missin on March 23rd.

Hi guys, we have reached that time of the month again! It is my pleasure to introduce ring-girl and dancer, Alina Lamb, who is The MMA Review’s March “Babe of the Month”!!! Enjoy!

Jay Cee: Hi Alina, I am really glad to have you here on themmareview.co.uk as our March “Babe Of The Month”! Tell me how you are doing? and how it feels to be an MMA Review Babe?

Alina: I’m great thanks, excited about being “Babe of the Month”!!

Jay Cee: Tell me about some of the MMA promotions you have worked at in the past? Also, you are part of the “Icis Agency” team, tell me how that all came about? and what it is like working with Dionne Vincent?

Alina: It’s wicked working with Dionne, she is a great friend and manager! I first got to know her a few years ago when she was a ring girl and starting up her agency. I was dancing part-time with a dance group, we just clicked and had a great time. We have kept in touch and worked on a few things since. I have been involved in some amazing charity work she has organised as well as some photo shoots and of course being a ring girl. Her energy, ideas and organisation is amazing, I don’t know how she does it all!

Jay Cee: I saw you in action at Ultimate Impact Cagefighting 9 in Cheltenham. You did a great job and It was a fantastic night of fights. Which fighter did you most enjoy accompanying to the cage?

Alina: I don’t know if there was any specific fighter I enjoyed accompanying the most…they are all so focused and in the zone. I just try to be professional and get the crowd going to support them. I find it fun though, hearing all there different types of entrance music they pick, it makes me wonder what my ‘theme tune’ would be? Hehe!

Jay Cee: How did you first get into being a ring-girl? and what is your favorite thing about the job?

Alina: I have only just got into it really. I did a photo shoot with Icis Agency and Dionne asked me to come on board more….as I said before, I have done a few dance routines for entertainment in the breaks, but this was my first major ring girl job! so thanks to you all for supporting me and making me “Babe of the Month” after my debut!!!

Jay Cee: It must be quite exciting to meet new people all the time including the fans and fighters. Do you have any funny stories or a memorable moment from an event that you can share with us?

Alina: I love it, the cheer of the crowd, the flash of the cameras, the action and suspense of the fight! It’s great working with everyone and making new friends. Funny stories? um not really yet, but I went to a after party with a few mates in Bristol as my friend Scott Richards was fighting. It was around Halloween but no one was dressed up….until one guy came in dressed as the gingerbread man from Shrek!!! was quite funny!

Jay Cee: Outside of being a ring-girl are you an actual fan of MMA? If so, who is your favorite fighter?

Image taken by West 172 Photography

Alina: I must admit if you asked me a year ago I never really liked the idea of watching a fight, but I’m converted, siting there ring-side is exciting, tense stuff! I can not wait to work again. Favorite fighter?! the Frank Fellows and Will Stevenson fight was amazing! But I love watching my mate Scott Richards fight, he is a Thai fighter and also does MMA.

Jay Cee: I have been asked by quite a few female readers how they could become ring girls. What advice would you give to any young women looking to get into that line of work?

Alina: Be confident, get some photos done and practice strutting you thing! Get in touch with a great agency like Icis Agency and then take it from there!

Jay Cee: Tell me a bit about what else you do outside of being a ring girl Alina? I have seen some amazing pictures of you, is modelling something you do full-time or just something on the side?

Alina: My main job is a Professional Dancer. I trained since I was three!!! I used to work abroad on cruise ships around the med and the Caribbean, America and Mexico, in Macau, Korea, Portugal and Croatia in Casinos and Theaters. I have also worked in Paris at the Moulin Rouge, incredible job, but hardcore Can Can! Since coming back to the UK I still dance but I mainly teach and choreograph now. I have done some TV work and a bit of modeling, but it is some thing I would love to get into more……any job offers?

Jay Cee: What would you say is your best asset body-wise?

Alina: Judging from the pics everyone put on Facebook from Ultimate Impact Cagefighting 9 in Cheltenham…I think my bum!!

Jay Cee: Describe yourself in three words?

Alina: Legs, Legs and Legs!

Jay Cee: Great, well that about wraps it up Alina. Thanks again for taking some time out to be our March “Babe Of The Month” and good luck for the future! I really enjoyed it, I hope you did too!? Please feel free to do some shout-outs etc.

Alina: Shout out the the amazing Dionne and all the great girls at Icis Agency (www.icisagency.com). West 172 Photography and Short & Round’s photography for the pics, and the all the fans who come to watch and support MMA!

North West based MMA promotion, Full Contact Contender (FCC), have announced the final fight card for their upcoming FCC 5: Menga vs. Platts event, which is set to take place in the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on March 16.

Unfortunately the event has been hit with a few injuries staring with Ant Bailey, who was forced to withdraw from his middleweight bout against Kevin Fryer. Luckily Kristoff Pachucki, who is an FCC veteran has stepped in to face Fryer for the interim title. The winner will go on to face Bailey at a future FCC event.

Also, Conor Hignett has been forced to withdraw from his flyweight bout Danny Missin, due to a training injury that almost cost him the top half of his ear and required plastic surgery late last week. Unfortunately a replacement opponent for Missin could not be found, so that matchup has been scratched from the card.

Here is what FCC promoter Adam Teh had to say:

“Injuries are always a concern at all levels of Mixed Martial Arts, and this week it was FCC’s turn to be bitten by the injury bug. Coner Hignett still wanted to fight with one good ear, but there was no way FCC, or any doctor in the land, would have cleared him. I’d like to thank the fighters who have stepped in at the last minute, and their opponents for taking the bouts. Much like 90’s R&B sensations TLC, we don’t want no scrubs, so fans can be sure that despite the injury drop-outs, they’ll still be in store for a first-class evening of high quality amateur MMA. If that’s not enough, Menga vs Platts for bragging rights in the UK flyweight division is guaranteed to bring the house down!”

The full fight card for FCC 5 is below:
