• Interview with Middleweight UFC fighter Chris Camozzi

  • I recently got the chance to catch up with UFC middleweight fighter Chris Camozzi. Check it out..

Jay Cee: “Hi Chris, great to have you on themmareview.co.uk. Firstly I have to start by talking about your most recent fight against Francis Carmont at UFC 137. Unfortunately you lost that fight, please give me your thoughts on the match-up and what you personally think went wrong on the night?”

Chris Camozzi: “My fight with Francis still bothers me. I had a great training camp and I felt awesome going into the cage but for some reason I just didn’t pull the trigger. There are no excuses for it and I thought it was a boring fight. I don’t know why I was pushing him up on the fence or trying to take him down. I’m not a wrestler and I’m not a boring fighter but for some reason that night I was both. I would love to get that fight back in front of me again but as for now I will move forward to my next opponent.”

Jay Cee: “Myself and many others can’t wait to see you back in the octagon fighting again. Any news on when we can expect to see you in action next? and is there anyone in particular you would like to fight?”

Chris Camozzi: “My next fight is Jan 28th at UFC on Fox 2 in Chicago vs Dustin Jacoby.”

Jay Cee: “What is your favourite part of training? What particular area of your game will you now look to improve or work on in preparation for future fights?”

Chris Camozzi: “My favourite part of training is the fact that its my job. I love being in a gym all day and not in some office. I get to punch and submit guys everyday so there isn’t much room for boredom or stress. Most people never get the opportunity to get paid to do something they love. I’m not most people. I’m living my dream and taking full advantage.”

Jay Cee: “What gym/gym’s do you currently train at?”

Chris Camozzi: “I train at my home Factory X in Denver, Colorado. I also get some wrestling in at Rino Sport Galleri. Colorado is a great fight state and I get the chance to cross train with a lot of great fighters in the area but Factory X is my home.”

Jay Cee: “What are your goals for the future? What can we expect to see from Chris Camozzi within the next 5 years?”

Chris Camozzi: “As far as goals for the future, my management, coaches and myself have our eyes set on winning bonuses. Every fight I take I’m going in there to take that extra check home and please the crowd. Id love to be a contender in the next 5 years and a household name!”

Jay Cee: “Last question now Chris…Who is your favorite MMA fighter past or present? And why?”

Chris Camozzi: “My favorite fighter was probably Wand Silva in the pride days. I’m still a Huge fan of Wand now but in the Pride days there was no one like him. I would love to fight like that and that’s my goal.”

Jay Cee: ” Ok, great! Thanks for taking part in the interview Chris and best of luck in your next fight!”
