  • MPumbu vs Vegh 195x300 Bellator MMA: Christian M’Pumbu set to defend LHW title against Attila Vegh on Feb. 28A new bout has been added to the Bellator 91 card as Christian M’Pumbu (18-4-1) defends the Bellator Light Heavyweight title against Attila Vegh (28-4-2). The event is set to take place at the Santa Ana Star Center in New Mexico on Feb. 28.

    Bellator officials recently announced the fight via official press release.

    Tickets for the event are on sale January 11th and range from $25-$90. Tickets can be purchased at ComcastTix.com, Bellator.com or by visiting The Santa Ana Star Center box office. The event will broadcast LIVE starting at 8 p.m. MST on Spike, as well as in Spanish language on mun2. The preliminary card will be streamed LIVE and FREE on Spike.com starting at 6 p.m. MST.

    Christian M’Pumbu last fought at Bellator 55 in October 2011, where he dropped a unanimous decision loss to Travis Wiuff in a non-title bout. Prior to that he scored a third round TKO victory over Rich Hale at Bellator 45 in May 2011, becoming the new Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion. He had earned a spot in the Bellator Season 4 LHW Tournament Final after defeating both Chris Davis and Tim Carpenter via TKO. M’Pumbu will now look to put another notch in the win column with a big performance against Vegh.

    “I am extremely excited about this opportunity to defend my Bellator Light Heavyweight World Championship,” M’Pumbu said. “I look forward to getting back in the cage and putting on a show for all of the amazing Bellator fans throughout the world.  On February 28th, I will have my hand raised and remain Bellator Light Heavyweight World Champion.”

    Attila Vegh is currently riding an eight fight winning streak, most recently defeating Travis Wiuff via first round KO at a Bellator Summer Series event in August. Prior to that he scored a split decision victory over Emanuel Newton in July, and a first round submission win over Zelg Galešić in June. Attila has a chance to take home the title with a big win over M’Pumbu on Feb. 28.

    “This fight is all I am focused on,” Vegh said. “I’ve never worked harder for something in my life, and on February 28th, I will hold that belt and become the new Bellator World Champion.”
